JR is a French photographer, artist and winner of the TED Prize worth $ 100,000. Each year, TED gives this award to the person who develops the best plan to change the world. The money will be used to create an art project that will be announced inÂ TED‘s next edition.
TED‘s representatives said that, “JR works with a team of volunteers to assemble huge black and white photographs that cover buildings in poor neighborhoods of Paris, the Middle East, Africa and Brazil favelas.”
JR turned the mountains of Rio into a dramatic scenery images using the facades of favelas. In Kenya for his project ‘Women Are Heroes‘, became the Kibera slum in an art gallery filled with local faces. In Israel and Palestine, mounted photos showing rabbis, imams and priests together.
